Gusan collaborates with a wide network of workshops located throughout Armenia, where the relationship between tradition, material, and land remains deeply rooted. These workshops bring together highly skilled luthiers and instrument makers whose knowledge is the result of long careers, often spanning several decades, and in many cases shaped by family lineages of craftsmanship. Their expertise reflects a profound understanding of materials, acoustics, and musical practice, developed through years of dedicated work.

Rather than working with a single workshop or a standardized production model, Gusan deliberately chooses to collaborate with a multitude of ateliers, each representing a distinct approach, history, and sensitivity. This diversity allows us to reflect the richness of Armenian musical craftsmanship, where instruments are not uniform objects but the expression of individual hands, regional traditions, and personal philosophies of sound and construction.

A core objective of Gusan is to highlight and give visibility to exceptional artisans whose work often remains known only within limited circles. Many of these makers have spent years, sometimes a lifetime, refining their techniques, experimenting with materials, and responding to the evolving needs of musicians. By working closely with them, Gusan contributes to the preservation of traditional manufacturing methods while also supporting thoughtful innovation that respects the integrity of these instruments.

The workshops we collaborate with cover a wide range of traditional Armenian instruments, including wind instruments, string instruments, and percussion. Whether crafting a Duduk, a Kamancha, a Qanon, or a Dhol, these artisans share a common commitment to quality, precision, and musical authenticity. Their work is guided by listening, experience, and an intimate dialogue with musicians, rather than by industrial constraints or mass production logic.

These artisans are not considered mere commercial partners. They are integral contributors to the Gusan project and active participants in its cultural mission. Together, we are building a shared dynamic aimed at strengthening local production, promoting Armenian instruments on an international level, and creating favorable conditions for the transmission of knowledge to future generations.
